The second season of '13 Reasons Why' is getting critiqued for being controversial, but unlike the first season they say it didn't have redeemable qualities. According to Business Insider, "13 Reasons Why?s second season doesn?t seem to realize where the show?s strengths actually lie. The season doubles down on drama, intrigue, and violence, to the point where it starts to feel like a po-faced version of Riverdale." They say their themes and the social commentary they tackle are too heavy handed to be elegantly effective like the first season.
