VIDEO : Is the Cannes Film Festival in Decline?

According to a report by SFGate, many in the press apparently decided, long before the red carpet unrolled or a single film was screened, that the legendary Cannes Film Festival was in decline. SFGate points out that most of that negative press was generated outside of France. While people in France covered the event with the same intensity that the festival has garnered throughout its half-century-plus existence. The French government created the festival back in the 1940s, and it remains by far the largest cultural event in a country that prides itself on culture.
