On Tuesday, Madonna made an appearance at this year's Met Gala in New York City, surprising guests with a performance of "Like A Prayer." Business Insider reports that this year's theme of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and Catholic Imagination," fit the 59 year old's selection of the 1989 hit track, as well as a cover of the late Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." For her performance of "Like a Prayer," the singer performed in a white gown with church ringing in the background. Throughout her career, Madonna has sparked controversy over religious themes that pervade her music and performances.
