VIDEO : Cannes Film Festival Has Banned Netflix Entries

Last year, the Cannes Film Festival allowed Netflix films to screen in the competition. Jump forward to this year and the streaming service has been banned from the festival. Artistic director Thierry Frémaux explained his decision in a recent interview. He said, "I thought I could convince Netflix to release them in cinemas." In the long term, shutting Netflix out could be a bad move. The service is, after all, an undeniable power player in modern cinema.
