After humble beginnings as an arcade classic, "Street Fighter" has shown remarkable staying power.
Full of colorful characters and a surprisingly in-depth mythology, the franchise has made it to the big screen before.
With a 1994 movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue and Raul Julia. And despite its critical failure, the movie was a box office success.
A reboot in 2009, called "Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li," received even worse reviews.
But an anime releases in 1994, called "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie," has become a cult hit.
And now a live-action series is reportedly in the works, from Entertainment One.
The story will focus on Chun-Li, Ken, Ryu and Guile, as they take on criminal mastermind M. Bison.
The show will feature the team behind "Street Fighter: Assassin?s Fist," a 2014 web series.
"Assassin?s Fist" was warmly received by fans and critics, balancing the cheesiness of the game with good character development.
