It's the first $100 million film directed by a woman of color.
It stars Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.
But, despite the anticipation, critics disliked the movie.
The movie currently holds a 43% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The audience score is even lower, at 30%.
Disney is bracing for a flop.
The studio readjusted its opening weekend estimates below $50 million.
Not every critics disliked the film.
Geek.com's Movie Bob gave the film three out of four stars.
It plays out very unevenly, but when it works it really works and the overall effect is a compelling, refreshing and ultimately very worthwhile attempt at filming the unfilmable.
