'Call Me By Your Name' star, Armie Hammer, faced this exact dilemma.
He had to miss Film Independent Spirit Awards because of the illness but he refused to miss out on the Oscars. He shared on Instagram how he got doctors to hook him up to an IV drip to speed up his recovery.
Though his co-star didn't win Best Actor, Armie must have still been happy to see the film win the Oscar for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay.
