Joaquin Phoenix has admitted to the press he is afraid of winning awards for his performances.
"There's a part of me that fears if you appreciate or enjoy that too much, it means... you'll stop fighting. And I'm terrified of it. For me, thus far, I've managed to stave that off and to feel like working on a movie is always the greatest reward." Joaquin Phoenix
He was completely taken by surprised when he won best actor at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
Phoenix wants to maintain his love for the process not the result.
