Netflix has given a 10-episode series order to the animated series ?Tuca and Bertie,? with Tiffany Haddish attached to voice one of the titular characters.
The comedy, which hails from the team behind the streamer?s other animated hit ?Bojack Horseman,? centers on two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan (Haddish), and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.
?Bojack? production designer Lisa Hanawalt is the creator of the series, with ?Bojack? creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg on board to executive produce along with Steven A. Cohen and Noel Bright.
The series hails from Michael Eisner?s The Tornante Company, with animation being done at Shadowmachine.
?Tuca and Bertie? is just one of several projects Haddish has lined up following her breakout turn in the comedy ?Girls Trip.? She is next set to co-star in the TBS Tracy Morgan comedy series ?The Last O.G.? and her She Ready production company signed a first-look deal with HBO last month. She will also star opposite Kevin Hart in the film ?Night School,? set for release in the fall.
