Actor John Gavin has passed away at the age of 86.
Gavin appeared in some of the biggest films of the 1960s.
Born Juan Vincent Apablasa, Gavin graduated from Stanford, where he earned his degree in Latin American Affairs and economics.
Throughout his childhood and education, he never acted in a single play.
His introduction to the movie business was a result of his Navy experiences during the Korean War
He served as technical advisor for a film about the ship he had served on, the U.S.S. Princeton.
That film?s director arranged for Gavin to take a screen test at Universal Studios.
This led to several roles, including one as Janet Leigh?s boyfriend In "Psycho"
And a young Julius Caesar in "Spartacus"
After acting, Gavin worked as a businessman, serving on the board of numerous companies.
He leaves behind a wife, two children, and two step-children.
