On Saturday, Prince fans were outraged by reports that the late musician could make an appearance during Justin Timberlake?s Super Bowl halftime show this weekend.
TMZ was the first to report that Timberlake was planning to honor Prince in his hometown of Minneapolis, by projecting a hologram of the late superstar.
One Twitter user wrote, ?I support a prince hologram so long as it just sits in the front row and looks bored and chews gum."
Most fans seemed to hone in on the fact that the two musicians appeared to have some sort of rivalry. It dates back to a 2006 insult from Prince mocking Timberlake?s hit single ?Sexyback.? Prince said at the time, ?Sexy never left."
Timberlake shot back at the 2007 Oscars when he mocked the musician?s height while accepting the Best Original Song award on his behalf.
