VIDEO : Only One Woman Won A Solo Grammy Award At Televised Grammys

Hollywood movements like Time's Up and #MeToo have been at the forefront of a cultural shift with the spotlight squarely on the treatment of women and gender inequality. The most recent outrage is over the televised Grammy Awards. Alessia Cara was the only woman to win a solo award for best new artist. Two other women, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, won best country duo/group performance as part of the group, Little Big Town. Lorde, who was the only woman nominated in the best album category, was also not scheduled to perform.
