VIDEO : Sony Announces Release Date For New 'Men in Black' Spinoff

Celebrity in this news:

According to Deadline Hollywood, Sony-owned Columbia Pictures has announced that they are postponing their as-of-yet untitled "Men in Black" spinoff, and moving the film from its previously announced release date of May 17th 2019 to one month later, on June 14th. This means that the movie will no longer open opposite Keanu Reeves? "John Wick: Chapter 3," and will instead contend with Warner Bros.? "Shaft" reboot, starring Richard Roundtree and Samuel L Jackson. While a fourth MIB film has been in the works for several years, the studio shelved the idea of bringing back Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones following the release of Barry Sonnenfeld?s "Men in Black 3" in 2012. And since then, writer Oren Uziel (who wrote "22 Jump Street") revealed that he had been prepping a script for "Men in Black 4" with younger actors in mind, namely Smith?s son, Jaden. But now it appears that the new story will be an original idea that takes cues from previous films, and will be based on a script from writing duo Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, who previously co-wrote Jon Favreau?s "Iron Man" and Michael Bay?s "Transformers: The Last Knight."
