Frankie Shaw's Showtime series "SMILF" has been a massive success and only just finished its first season. The Boston-set, semi-autobiographical dramedy follows Shaw as a single mom who struggles with parenting, sexual harassment, and abuse.
The series is nominated for best comedy and for Shaw's performance at this year's Golden Globes. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Shaw said she practices what she preaches and hires people of color and women. When asked why she used a Woody Allen quote in the show, the actress said, "The irony of an opening scene of this girl who was sexually abused by her dad and pairing it with this Woody Allen quote, it's completely intentional. I want to call out the social acceptance of Woody Allen. When is he going to go down? He's 150 years old."
