After a two-week hiatus, Ellen DeGeneres returned to her show and she took a moment to thank the firefighters and first responders who helped keep her home safe from last month's threatening California wildfires. DeGeneres told the audience, ?The fires were outrageous. They worked 24 hours shifts on, 24 hours shifts off. They were incredible people and I wanted to thank as many as I could." DeGeneres shared a slideshow of some photos of her and wife Portia DeRossi spending time with the firefighters inside of their home. She concluded her segment by saying, "What they do every single day ? we need to thank them every time we see a firefighter."
