VIDEO : Neill Blomkamp Ditches Alien Sequel

Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp has confirmed in a tweet that he?s officially ?moved on? from his idea for making a sequel in the Alien franchise. Following a half-dozen film shorts shot in his native South Africa from 2004 to 2008, Blomkamp burst onto the scene both stateside and abroad in 2009 with his inventive alien invasion film District 9, which became a worldwide hit by grossing nearly $211 million against a $30 million budget. Based on his own short film, 2005?s Alive in Joburg, District 9 also won both critical and industry acclaim, including four Oscar nominations including Best Picture, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Blomkamp and his wife/story collaborator, Terri Tatchell.
