Last year Mariah Carey had a disastrous New Year's Eve performance, but it looks like it might have been the best thing to happen to the singer and ABC's ratings. The Disney-owned network scored number 1 rankings for the last night of 2017 as plenty of people tuned in for ?Dick Clark?s New Year?s Rockin? Eve? to see if Carey would have any malfunctions this time around. This time Carey opted for a minimal approach with no backup dancers or choreography. She stood in one place for most of her two-song performance. Ryan Seacrest interviewed Carey after the set, and she told him, "I?m feeling a lot better than last year, when I had to get my own police escort to walk away.?
