Harry Potter has officially been left behind and beat by the Star Wars franchise. Combining all 10 installments of the franchise, Star Wars has outgross the Harry Potter series at the worldwide box office. It is almost as if Disney knew it would make so much money. The company bought Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4 billion, knowing it was important in pop culture and that they could make a lot of money out of it. With all the money Star Wars has made in the box office and in merchandise, Disney has quickly gained the money they spent to buy the franchise in the first place.
