Rian Johnson "briefly considered" featuring Lando Calrissian in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'. Calrissian is a smuggler played by Billy Dee Williams. He first appeared in 'Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back' as a close friend to Harrison Ford's Han Solo. Fans speculated he would return in the eighth installment following the death of his friend. However, filmmaker Johnson recently admitted the character won't be in the latest film but said he did consider it. Johnson said that he couldn't figure out how to add Lando to the film and keep the plot and pace of the film the same.
