When it seemed like the X-Men franchise had lost its way under Fox, the Kick-Ass director came in with a prequel that revitalized the whole thing. After the one-two punch of X-Men III: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class was just what the series needed. It was fresh, fun, had a ton of great actors and an interesting, complex story. It and its Bryan Singer-directed sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past were so good, not even the abysmal X-Men: Apocalypse could destroy the goodwill Vaughn helped build. Now, he may do the same for the DCEU.
The director appeared on the IGN UK podcast, where he said he?d rather work for DC than Disney?s Marvel. More than that, he?s been talking to Warner Bros. about the possibility of coming on board. ?I do love the world of DC, and I?ve been talking to them at the moment about a few things,? he said. ?It?s more fun getting involved with franchises when they?re on the down, because then it?s easier to make a good film. So if I got involved with a few of the superhero movies out there that have been disappointing, it?s going to be? if I do OK, it?ll probably be better.?
