There was never any doubt that "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" was going to make a lot of money. The only real question was how much money would it make? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film premiered on December 14 and simply from that night alone made $45 million. That means "The Last Jedi" could make up to $100 million for opening day and have a $200 million weekend. It might not beat the $57 million that "The Force Awakens" made in a single night but it might still might become the highest grossest movie of 2017 in simply the last half month of the year.
