Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, the creators of ?30 Rock? and ?The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,? will receive a top honor from the Writers Guild of America East in February.
The duo will claim the Herb Sargent Award for Comedy Excellence at an award ceremony on February 11th. The Sargent Award has been presented to influential comedy writers including Judd Apatow and Lorne Michaels. Fey and Carlock said in a statement, ?This is particularly meaningful for us as Herb created Weekend Update, which is where we first worked together in the late nineties. Like Herb, Tina grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. And, like Robert, Herb was a Caucasian male, which used to be cool.?
