Actor Mark Hamill used real-life politics to depict Luke Skywalker?s conflicted, dark turn in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Luke was the most optimistic character in the Star Wars universe.
So, how was Hamill able to channel an angrier, more bitter Luke?
Hamill "had to find what could have happened that would make the most hopeful, optimistic character wind up in this dark place."
He went on to say "real life is so horrible. Harsh reality is so draining on the human psyche you need to go to a safe place like a galaxy far far away.?
