The live-action Pokemon movie now has a female lead! Kathryn Newton has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie. leaked audition tapes suggest that the character is a junior news reporter who partners with the male lead and his Pikachu to solve a mystery. Newton has starred as Reese Witherspoon's daughter in the HBO series Big Little Lies. She was also in Supernatural and Halt and Catch Fire.
