Both Jay-Z and Beyoncé have opened up about the ups and downs of their marriage on their respective albums 4:44 and Lemonade. Jay-Z says that while it was difficult to hear, in the end, it ultimately benefitted them as individuals and as a couple. The rapper told The New York Times, that he felt ?very, very uncomfortable" hearing Beyonce address cheating rumors but that they "had a lot of conversations" about their song material. He went on to say he was "really proud of the music she made, and she was really proud of the art I released."
