Last week allegations of harassment and sexual misconduct were leveled at producer Harvey Weinstein. For the most part, Hollywood elites remained silent. Many took the silence as a sign of hypocrisy. Weinstein is a fierce and powerful critic of the President. He has supported many liberal causes and raised tens of millions of dollars to Democrats, notably Hillary Clinton. Actress Meryl Streep, a champion of women's rights, stayed mostly silent. Now, after news broke that Weinstein was being fired from his company, Streep is speaking out. Many call her comments, published by the Huffington Post, hollow and fake. Brandon Morse of Red State said Streep's comments are "too ill timed, and too lacking in concern for others, but too rife with concern for herself."
