Meryl Streep and other stars are speaking out about the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, after the studio executive was fired from The Weinstein Company, the film company he co-founded. Last week, the New York Times published an expose describing several incidents of alleged sexual harassment by Weinstein over a period of three decades. Streep said to CNN in a statement, "The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported." The actress went on to say that Weinstein had always been professional and respectful with her. She said, "I didn't know about these other offenses: I did not know about his financial settlements with actresses and colleagues; I did not know about his having meetings in his hotel room, his bathroom, or other inappropriate, coercive acts."
