Armie Hammer has defended his controversial role in 'Call Me by Your Name'. In the movie Hammer portrays twenty four year old Oliver, which sees his character develop a relationship with 17-year-old student Elio. Hammer is now facing withering criticism over the age gap depicted in the film. One Twitter user, a Vietnam war veteran, wondered if Hammer was a pedophile and asked him if he believed in and promoted such "depravity." In response, Armie hit back, tweeting "You do know that you live in a state where the age of consent is 16, right....? Ok. Now shut up. And thank you for your service to our country."
