The film had great reviews and advanced ticket sales but still failed to deliver the opening weekend. The first Blade Runner film which came out 35 years ago wasn?t a box office hit either. And today, it is considered to be one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. Moviegoers may have felt daunted by the task of having to watch the original before going to see ?2049?. Warner Bros studio was disappointed by the film?s performance but only time will tell how the film holds up.
