Jared Leto will play the late Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner in Brett Ratner's upcoming biopic. Ratner acquired rights to the film in 2015, after the previous rights-holder, Jerry Weintraub of Warner Bros. passed away. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Leto will take on the role that was once meant for Robert Downey, Jr. Ratner told THR, "Jared is an old friend. When he heard I got the rights to Hef's story, he told me, 'I want to play him.'"
