Natalie Portman?s upcoming film, "Annihilation," is based off of Jeff VanderMeer?s novel of the same name. Directed by Alex Garland, known for "Ex Machina," the film is told from the perspective of Natalie Portman?s character who is called by her job title: ?the Biologist?. The novel, part of the "Southern Reach" trilogy, is about a mysterious organization that is facilitating explorations into Area X. The movie also stars Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. In the trailer, Portman?s voice asks, ?Why did my husband volunteer for a suicide mission?? "Annihilation" will be released in February 2018.
