Director James Gunn confirmed that when kills a character, they stay dead. The "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" director referred to killing both Yondu in the sequel and the original Groot in the first "Guardians" film. Gunn recently took to facebook to make it clear where Yondu and Groot stand in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He said it's possible to see Yondu in a flashback, but he wont reappear as himself in future films. Gunn wrote: "I personally will never bring him back to life in present time because it would nullify his sacrifice and the love from father to son." Gunn added that his sacrifice in the film is one of the reasons he is such a loved character in the second Guardian's film.
