Robert Redford was convinced to star in 'Our Souls at Night' by his friend, actress Jane Fonda. Redford was reluctant to appear in the film, having already starred in the Broadway production. Once Fonda was cast in the lead, Robert reconsidered his stance towards the romance movie. And Fonda was similarly enthusiastic about being reunited with Robert. The two have been friends and frequent collaborators since 1965.
