The wealthiest woman in the world, Liliane Bettencourt, has died at the age of 94. Bettencourt, the heiress of the L'Oreal makeup brand, was a social butterfly and was involved in a number of scandals throughout her life. She maintained close friendships to three French presidents during her lifetime. The daughter of L'Oreal founder Eugene Schueller, she was married to Andre Bettencourt, a government minister under President Charles de Gaulle. The couple was accused of pro-Nazi sympathies and anti-Semitism.
