Ryan Phillippe's ex-girlfriend Elsie Rose Hewitt has claimed that the actor physically abused her while they were together. Hewitt filed a lawsuit Monday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming that Phillippe "grabbed [her] upper arm so tightly that his grip left heavy bruises on her arm hours later, [and] then braced his body and threw her down his staircase as hard as he could." The lawsuit also alleges that Phillippe had a drug addiction to several substances during the time they were together. In a letter posted to his Twitter account on Tuesday, Philippe said, "I am saddened and disgusted by the false allegations circulated about me. Domestic violence is a very real and tragic issue faced by many women the world over and should never be used to vengefully slander or as a ploy for monetary gain." Hewitt is requesting $1 million from Phillippe in her suit.
