David Bowie died in 2016 but made a surprise appearance for fans in the show "Twin Peaks: The Return. Yet this wasn't new footage shot before his death, but simply archival footage. The musician had already appeared in David Lyncg and Mark Frost's series in 1992 when the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me was released. His character was reintroduced in the new TV series in a different form. Producer of the show Sabrina Sutherland said that before the death of Bowie, they were able to get his permission for using the archival clips and for the way the character would be presented.
