Casey Affleck has signed on to star in ?Stoner,? an adaptation of the John Williams cult novel. Affleck, who is a fan of the 1965 book, will play the lead role of an academic stuck in a loveless marriage and a thankless job. The New Yorker has called the book the ?greatest American novel you?ve never heard of." Affleck won an Academy Award in 2017 for his work in "Manchester by the Sea," amidst controversy involving sexual assault allegations.
