Pink won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in the 2017 VMAs and during her acceptance speech she talked about not conforming to traditional beauty standards. First of all, she and her whole family wore matching menswear suits. In her speech she explained that one day her daughter told her that she was the ugliest girl she knows. Pink then explained to her daughter that many people are made fun of but that they don't listen to their critics and simply carry on without changing who they are. She told her daughter: "We help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty...and you, my darling girl, are beautiful."
