Matt Reeves has confirmed his solo batman film, The Batman, will remain part of the DC extended universe. Reeves took over film-making duties from Ben Affleck on the project. Reeves took to Twitter to clarify the future of the character after quotes from an old interview surfaced. In that old interview, Reeves said 'The Batman' was not part of the DC Extended Universe. That comment led fans to believe that Batman would not appear in any upcoming ensemble movie. Reeves clarified his comments. He said that the stand alone Batman film will not have story-lines or characters related to the larger DC Extended Universe. The director tweeted "Just to be clear: Of COURSE Batman will be part of the D.C. Universe. Batman will be BATMAN."
