In order to educate and inform her viewers, Kathryn Bigelow wanted to remain faithful to the story of the 1960s race riots in Detroit by creating a "dramatization of true events." In a recent press conference, Bigelow said the script was formed largely from court documents and testimonies from people who witnessed the events. 'Detroit' focuses on the murders of three black men inside the Algiers Motel.
