The new Netflix series 'Atypical' tells the story of Sam, played by Keir Gilchrist, a boy with high-functioning autism in a mainstream high school. Brigette Lundy-Paine, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Michael Rapaport take on supporting roles in the series, acting as Sam's family members. The series begins with Sam saying, ?I?m a weirdo. That?s what everyone says. Sometimes, I don?t know what people mean when they say things, and that can make me feel alone, even if there are other people in the room.? The new show is being credited with being one of only a few to feature a character with autism. The series hits the streaming service on Friday.
