Speaking to Empire magazine, director James Cameron - director and creator of the "Avatar" film franchise - revealed that actor Stephen Lang will be the main villain in all four sequels. The 64-year-old actor - who starred as Colonel Miles Quaritch in the 2009 hit movie - will be coming back despite that character's death at the end of the film. Cameron said "The interesting concept of the 'Avatar' sequels is it's pretty much the same characters," adding "I'm taking characters you know and putting them in unfamiliar places and moving them on this greater journey... But it's not a whole bunch of new characters every time. There's not a new villain every time, which is interesting." The original "Avatar" came out in 2009 and starred Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, and went on to gross $2.7 billion at the global box office. The sequels are currently slated for release on December 18th, 2020, December 17th, 2021, December 20th, 2024 and December 19th, 2025.
