Based on the novels by Stephen King, the movie was meant to be the kick-off to a multi-film franchise. "The Dark Tower" made $19 million in its first weekend. Some audiences who watched the movie took an exit poll gauging audience interest in seeing a TV spin-off of "The Dark Tower." 83% of respondents had positive reactions to the idea.
