Kerry Washington is being recognized by the national education organization.
The organization is recognizing Washington for integrating LGBT activism into her film and television career.
On Thursday GLSEN announced it will honor Washington with the Inspiration Award at the 2017 GLSEN Respect Awards.
The awards will take place on Oct. 20 in Beverly Hills, California.
GLSEN praised Washington for her work with President Barack Obama's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
GLSEN was founded in 1990 to address LGBT issues in K-12 education.
