Sandra Bullock has signed on to star in Netflix's post-apocalyptic thriller "Bird Box." Oscar-winning Danish director Susanne Bier is set to direct the film written by 'The Arrival's' Eric Heisserer. "Bird Box," based on a 2014 novel by Josh Malerman, is set in the near future, where a mother and her two children are among a small group of survivors after an alien force drives the world's population to deadly violence. Production is expected to begin in August. The film is the most recent successful attempt by Netflix to enlist an A-list star, following Brad Pitt in "War Machine" and Will Smith in the upcoming sci-fi flick "Bright."
