The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Chris McCarthy, who is nine months into his job as MTV's third president. He revealed the network's plans to increase scripted programming, focusing on stories that are true to the MTV brand. He says that this includes more coming of age tales and shows that speak to youth culture. McCarthy explains, "I'd like to have one scripted event a quarter..." Reports say that the MTV executive has already given a four-hour Faith Evans miniseries the green light and put Calabasas, a comedic drama, into development. Queen Latifah is the executive producer of the project, which examines the intersection of celebrity, music, sports and young Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter adds that Justin Bieber may be a character in the drama.
