Star Trek: Discovery just offered a close up look at the phasers that'll be used in the upcoming Star Trek prequel. Like the communicators revealed previously, the phasers take the core designs of Star Trek: The Original Series and applies a modern sheen. The phasers of Star Trek: Discovery resemble typical guns the same way that the phasers in Star Trek: The Original Series did, as opposed to the almost remote control look to the phasers of Star Trek: The Next Generation and beyond. This makes sense since Star Trek: Discovery is set earlier int he timeline than Star Trek: The Original Series
