VIDEO : 'Girls Trip' Director on Black Girl Magic in new film

"Girls Trip," a Universal film starring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish, will be released on Friday. Director Malcolm D. Lee told The Hollywood Reporter that his hope for the film is that people recognize that quote "Black Girl Magic is real" and feel empowered by it. The comedy documents the adventures of four lifelong friends during a New Orleans vacation, behaving badly and getting away with it. He adds, "Black women can open a movie and it does not have to be about the space program, okay?"
