Spider-Man: Homecoming was a much needed injection of youth and energy into the almost 10 years old Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most of the Avengers are also a decade older than Spider-Man's Peter Parker. With Homecoming, Marvel was able to explore the life-changing impact living in a world where superheroes and alien invaders are real is having on the younger generation. Some critics argue that the MCU needs more young super heroes. In an essay for Screenrant, John Orquiola says the Spider-Man sequel should introduce Ms. Marvel, a young, female superhero. Miss Marvel is a female Pakistani American from Jersey City. She debuted in the comics in 2013.
