Vogue released the cover image for its August issue on Thursday which features model Gigi Hadid and singer Zayn Malik, who are a couple in real life. The cover story declares that Malik and Hadid are "part of a new generation embracing gender fluidity." The magazine says, "For these millennials, at least, descriptives like boy or girl rank pretty low on the list of important qualities?and the way they dress reflects that." While many fans were excited to see the celebrities on the cover, a lot of people took to Twitter to express their disappointment over Vogue using the term "gender fluid" to describe a cisgender heteronormative couple. One user wrote, "Think Vogue is a bit confused on what gender fluidity is! Wearing your gf's T-shirt does not make you gender fluid."
